Riverside Police and Fire Support our Community this Christmas

Today officers of the Riverside Police Association continued a seventeen year tradition of buying Christmas gifts for needy children in our community.  Over the past 17 years the Riverside Police Association has funded the project with approximately $20,000.  This year we teamed up with the Riverside Fire Company, and members of both departments went shopping together this morning.  Proceeds from the Police vs. Fire Dodgeball game funded this years project to sponsor thirteeen families.  We would like to thank Walmart in Cinnaminson for their generous contribution  and Catholic Charities for their donation of ShopRite gift cards.  We are proud to protect and serve our community and are pleased to help Riverside children have a Merry Christmas.  All the members of the Riverside Police Department wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season!

Riverside Police Lobby Updated for Younger Guests

Riverside Police Officers love to have kids stop by the station for a visit!  Unfortunately, sometimes circumstances have our young friends here because there is no one to care for them.  It is often stressful for children in those circumstances.  With that in mind, we remodeled our lobby area to accommodate more adults and to entertain children.  We increased our seating and added a television which displays public information such as the current the current, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, photos of the RPD in the community, upcoming events, etc.  For older kids we added an Xbox video game console and Netflix.  For our younger guests we added a small table and chairs, board games, coloring books and more.

We would like to thank the Riverside Police Officers that worked on this project.    Thanks to their hard work, the labor costs for this project were not passed on to the residents of Riverside.

We hope that our efforts will provide everyone a more pleasant experience!

Riverside Police to participate in 2016 Holiday "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign

The Riverside Township Police Department has been approved for the 2016 Holiday Season "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign!!

During the 2016 Holiday Season beginning December 9, 2016 and continuing through January 1, 2017 officers of the Riverside Township Police will be conducting proactive DWI Patrols.

The following information was made available by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
  • Drunk driving is often a symptom of a larger problem: alcohol misuse and abuse.
  • Alcohol-impaired motor vehicle crashes cost more than an estimated $37 billion annually.
  • In 2012, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes - one every 51 minutes.
  • If you plan on drinking, plan not to drive.
  • You should:
  • Plan a safe way home in advance and never drive after drinking.
  • Designate a sober driver.
  • Use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member or use public transportation.
  • Download NHTSA’s SaferRide mobile app (free from the iTunes store and GooglePlay), to easily call a taxi or a friend for a ride home. The app can also help you identify your location, if needed.
  • Always wear your seat belt. It’s your best defense against impaired drivers.

Eagle Scout Candidate's Project Focuses on Police and Citizen Safety

Paul Tursi Jr., of Riverside Boy Scout Troop 2, completed his Eagle Scout project at the Riverside Police Station today! Paul designed, funded, and installed officer safety checklist signs. The signs are posted in the patrol car parking area and are intended to reinforce officer safety at the beginning of their shift.

Paul also created an Internet Purchase Exchange Zone. The Internet Purchase Exchange Zone, situated behind the police station, is a safe, video recorded location designated for people to conduct transactions from places such as Craigslist. Paul's project has improved the safety of our officers and provided a valuable community service.

We would like to say thank you for thinking of us, and best of luck in your endeavor of earning the rank of Eagle Scout!

Beverly Man Shatters Window of Patrol Car

On 9/26/16 at approximately 4pm, the Riverside Police were investigating a suspicious person at the rear of an unoccupied building in the downtown area.  The police located Christopher T. Roach, 31 years, of Beverly.  Roach was found to have numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody.  Once in custody, Roach screamed, cursed at police and refused to comply throughout processing.  When officers attempted to transport him to the Burlington County Detention Center (BCDC), Roach kicked the rear window of the patrol car causing it to shatter.  Roach was eventually lodged at BCDC on his outstanding warrants and an additional $2,500 full bail on a charge of Criminal Mischief for the damage he caused to the patrol car.

The Riverside Police Station is haunted, again! Well, at least for a few hours on October 28th.

The Riverside Police Officers Association and Riverside Township are gearing up for our second annual haunted walk-through of the police station and Trunk or Treat. Our officers and their families will transform the interior and exterior of the police station into a spooktacular experience for kids to enjoy. Thanks to the success of last year's events, this year’s tour will include new and expanded attractions, intensifying the thrill!  Trunk or Treat will take place on Scott Street in front of the police station.

This enchanted night doesn't end there! Stick around after the tour for a free outdoor movie. The police association will be showing "Hotel Transylvania 2" on the big screen, just outside the station. So bring your Halloween spirit, a blanket and chair, and join us Friday, October 28th at 5:30 p.m. on West Scott Street!

The haunted walk-through of the police station is free; however, we are asking patrons to donate a non-perishable food item for the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry in Riverside.

This event is presented courtesy of Riverside Police Officers Association and Riverside Township.
