Virtual DWI Patrol Announced

Are you going out the night before Thanksgiving?  We are!  On Wednesday November 26th, the Riverside Police Department will host our first "Virtual DWI Patrol" from 8 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m.  Thanksgiving weekend has become one the most dangerous holiday periods for driving even surpassing New Year's, in terms of alcohol-related driving fatalities, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  This particular DWI patrol will focus on the night before Thanksgiving, sometimes known as "blackout Wednesday." During that time officers will share their patrol vehicles with our Twitter followers.  We anticipate Tweeting two to three times an hour.  This is an opportunity to get first hand information as officers live tweet the events that transpire during that period on Twitter.  We  hope the event raises awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving and encourages anyone going out to use a designated non-drinking driver.  You can follow us by easily signing up for a free Twitter account and following us @riversidepdnj.

In addition to the "Virtual DWI Patrol" we use Twitter to keep community members updated on events, community hazards, natural disasters and police activity.
