Train-Car Crash Kills Toddler
On 1/16/15 at approximately 3:59 p.m. a motor vehicle and the NJ Transit River Line collided at the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and Chester Avenue. Preliminary reports indicate the railroad crossing signals were functioning properly when a motor vehicle being operated by a 56 year old male from Delran attempted to cross the tracks despite the signals. The train and the vehicle collided. The motor vehicle was also occupied by the driver's two year old grandson. Both of the vehicle's occupants were transported to Cooper Hospital where the child succumbed to his injuries. Several riders on the train were also transported to the hospital. The crash is under police investigation.
