Intoxicated Riverside Resident Causes Crash

DWI Investigation Leads to Insurance Fraud Charges

This past New Year’s Eve, the Riverside Police responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident on North Pavilion Avenue at approximately 7:40pm.  The officers determined that the operator of a Mazda3 Sport illegally drove his vehicle into oncoming traffic and struck a GMC pickup truck.  No one was injured in the crash.  The driver of the Mazda was identified as Luis G. Tenecela Yunga, 26 years, of Riverside, NJ and was found to be under the influence of alcohol.  He was arrested and processed at the Riverside Police Department on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.

During processing, Tenecela Yunga provided a home address on Cleveland Avenue in Riverside, NJ.  Officers noticed that the vehicle he had been operating was registered and insured in his name from a town in Pennsylvania.  Another investigation ensued and over the coming weeks, officers determined that Tenecela Yunga had fraudulently applied for and maintained a motor vehicle insurance policy from Pennsylvania while residing and parking his vehicle in New Jersey.  As a result of the investigation, Tenecela Yunga was found to have made false statements on his application to obtain a motor vehicle insurance policy under the laws of Pennsylvania while maintaining a principal residence in New Jersey.

Luis G. Tenecela Yunga was charged with two counts of Insurance Fraud (3rd and 4th degree).  He was arrested and lodged at the Burlington County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
