CAR THIEF APPREHENDED BY RIVERSIDE POLICE DETECTIVES

Earlier today, Tuesday September 20th, Matthew R. Porter, 29 yrs, was taken into custody by Riverside Detectives outside of a residence in Burlington Township, NJ.  Porter is the suspect in a motor vehicle theft that took place last month.  

It was the early morning hours of August 6th, when the Riverside Township Police were called out to investigate the report of a stolen motor vehicle along Monroe Street.  Riverside Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Matthew R. Porter, 29 years, of Miami, Florida.  Porter was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle (3rd degree), Theft of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (3rd degree) and Theft of Movable Property (3rd degree) and a WARRANT was issued for his arrest.   

On  Thursday, August 18th, the stolen vehicle, a 2006 tan Hyundai Sonata, was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Philadelphia Police Department, and turned over to the Riverside Police for processing. 

Riverside Detectives discovered that Porter was staying at a residence in Burlington Township, NJ and located him there this morning.  He was arrested, processed and lodged at the Burlington County Detention Facility in Mount Holly, NJ pending a detention hearing.
