Identity Theft Investigation Leads to Search Warrants and Arrests

Tenants Used Fraudulent Identification to Obtain Leases

Riverside - This past July, the Riverside Township Police opened an investigation into several tenants at an apartment complex in Riverside, who were allegedly involved in fraud and identity theft.  An employee at the apartment management company alerted detectives to several tenants at their property on Delaware Avenue, who appeared to have used false identities to obtain leases to rental units.  An investigation ensued and detectives discovered several suspects and victims.  

Yesterday morning, two residential search warrants were served at those apartments with the assistance of the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey State Police.  As a result, items described as evidence of forgery, numerous identity cards and documents belonging to alleged victims, electronics, a loaded Glock model firearm and a large amount of cash were recovered.  

Two of the suspects, Juan Romero, age 27, and Shakirah M. Willliams, age 29, both of Riverside, NJ, (formerly from Philadelphia, PA) were both ARRESTED on scene and charged with several criminal offenses.  They were both lodged at the Burlington County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.  Also charged was resident Kachae Jackson, 28 yrs, of Riverside, NJ.  Jackson was not on location due to being lodged at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Pennsylvania on unrelated charges.   Additional suspects are also being investigated, along with numerous victims being identified/notified and additional charges are expected from this ongoing investigation.

  • Possession of a Prescription Drugs w/o Rx  4th

 

Shakirah M. Williams, 29 yrs

Shakirah M. Williams was charged with:

  • Possession of a False Government ID 2nd deg
  • Forgery 3rd deg
  • Identity Theft 3rd deg
  • Possession of a Prescription Drugs w/o Rx  4th deg

Kachae Jackson, 28 yrs

Kachae Jackson was charged with: 

  • Possession of False Government ID 2nd deg
  • Forgery 3rd deg
  • Identity Theft 3rd deg
