Riverside – This past Friday afternoon, the Riverside Township Police were notified of several people knocking on the doors of homes along Pulaski Avenue for the purpose of advertising solar services.  It was reported that none of them displayed a permit authorizing them to solicit for business within the township.  Riverside officers made contact with the subjects and confirmed they did not have a permit to solicit.  One of the suspects, identified as Zahir N. Green, 21 yrs, of Camden, NJ was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania for illegal narcotics distribution issued in 2022.  Green was placed under arrest, transported to the Riverside Police station where he was processed as a Fugitive from Justice, issued a summons for soliciting without a permit and lodged at the Burlington County Correctional Facility awaiting an extradition hearing to Pennsylvania.

On the following day, the Riverside Township Police were, again, called out to investigate another group of solicitors along Rancocas Avenue.  The officers located several subjects from another company advertising solar services.  One of the solicitors, identified as Cassan D. Fields, 28 yrs, of Philadelphia, PA, was found to have TWO warrants for his arrest.  Fields was WANTED for aggravated assault out of Cheltenham Twp, PA and for weapons offenses out of Philadelphia, PA.  Fields was taken into custody and transported to the police department where he was processed as a Fugitive from Justice, issued a summons for soliciting without a permit and lodged at the Burlington County Correctional Facility awaiting an extradition hearing to Pennsylvania.

Any business or person who intends to solicit services, goods within the township of Riverside must first apply for a permit, which requires passing a criminal background investigation.  Anyone who witnesses someone soliciting within the township without a permit is encouraged to call the non-emergency police dispatch line at 856-461-3434 to report it.

In 2017, the “No Knock” ordinance was established in Riverside Township, for the purpose of limiting unwanted solicitations.  See information on how to obtain a “No Knock” sticker here.
