Riverside Police Mourns the Loss of Retired Corporal Ernest “Ernie” Rossi





The Riverside Police Department is saddened to share the passing of retired Corporal Ernest “Ernie” Rossi, a devoted officer and valued member of our community.

Corporal Rossi began his career in July 1976 and honorably served until his retirement in June 2005. Over the course of nearly three decades, he served with distinction, working alongside his brother, Corporal Michael Rossi, and earning numerous letters of appreciation in recognition of his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to those he served. Affectionately known by his coworkers as “The Big Boy,” he was known for his compassion, integrity, and strong sense of duty, as well as his ability to make those around him laugh and his unwavering presence as a dependable backup officer when it mattered most, leaving a lasting impact on his fellow officers and the community he faithfully served.

The Riverside Police Department extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His legacy of service and commitment will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, brother.
