Three Suspects Charged in Downtown Burglary

Riverside Township Police

Riverside Township, NJ

In the early morning hours of April 18, 2025, over one year ago, the Riverside Township Police responded to a telecommunications business in the downtown area for the report of a burglary. Patrol officers responded to find the front door of the business damaged and several glass display cases broken. The victim reported numerous cell phones and other valuables stolen.  Riverside Detectives were notified and began an investigation.  The victim later officially reported that over $19,000 in property was stolen, along with damage exceeding $15,000.

Over the course of the next year, Detectives worked methodically, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses and potential suspects.  The investigation eventually led to the discovery of three suspects:

Yahnaya Lewis, 26 years of age, from Trenton, NJ

Arrested on August 20, 2025

Charges: Conspiracy to Commit Burglary

Hasan M. Brown, 31 years of age, from Lawrence Township, NJ

Arrested on September 4, 2025

Charges: Theft by Unlawful Taking

Marquis D. Johnson, 32 years of age, from Trenton, NJ

Arrested on April 22, 2026

Charges:  Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief

The arrest of Johnson earlier today concludes this year-long investigation into this invasive crime in our downtown business district.  He was lodged at the Burlington County Correctional Facility awaiting a detention hearing.

We would like to recognize the hard work put in by our Patrol officers and Detectives in this case, for the intensive, time-consuming work necessary not only to identify the suspects involved in a crime like this, but also to gather enough information to bring criminal charges against them.  We also want to thank our residents, business owners, and employees for their support and assistance in this investigation.  They provided key information in the early stages of the investigation that allowed our officers to build a case and identify and eventually charge these suspects.
