Reckless Drunk Driver Speeds Through Active Work Zone

Riverside Township Police
Riverside, NJ

An intoxicated driver was arrested by Riverside Township officers yesterday after driving recklessly through a construction zone.  It was just before noon along Washington St when a female identified as Emma J. Mazzoli, 46 years old of Delran, NJ, drove around construction signs and a road crew at a high rate of speed, almost striking one of the workers with her vehicle.  She was eventually stopped by officers on the site, but walked away from them while they attempted to conduct an investigation.  Mazzoli was arrested on the scene for Obstructing the Administration of Law and was found to be operating her motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor.  Her vehicle was impounded.

Mazzoli was transported to the Riverside Township Police Department, where she was processed on charges of:

  • Obstructing the Administration of Law
  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Disregarding a Stop Sign
  • Disregarding an Officer Directing Traffic
  • Driving through Safety Zones Prohibited
  • Careless Driving
  • Reckless Driving

Mazzoli was released into the care of a family member pending court.

We would like to remind all of our drivers that ongoing road construction is present in many areas, and drivers are urged to stay alert, follow posted signage, and obey directions from officers and construction crews at all times. These measures are in place to protect both workers and the public.  Please slow down, remain attentive, and plan ahead when traveling around construction areas.
