Two 12 Year Olds Charged With Distribution Of Sleeping Pills In School



            On 5/21/14 the Riverside Township Police have charged 2 juveniles in connection with distribution of Sleeping Pills and 1 juvenile with possession of sleeping pills in the Riverside Township Public School.
            On 5/20/14 The Riverside Township Police School Resource Officer Anthony Congemi received information from an anonymous source that 2 to 3 juveniles were observed passing out pills in the Riverside School cafeteria. The anonymous source came forward after school had been dismissed for the day. The source was provided information that the suspects were students in the Riverside Middle School.
            On 5/21/14 SRO Congemi through his investigation was able to obtain information that lead police to discover 1 of the juvenile suspects had stolen prescription medication that was prescribed to a family member. That juvenile suspect then began handing them out yesterday in the Riverside Middle School. It was also discovered through the course of the investigation that the suspect and one other JV were attempting to sell the pills for $10.00 each. The pills were found to be Ambien. It is unknown at this time as to exactly how many pills were either handed out or sold. If any parents believe their children may have received these pills as a result of this case you are asked to contact either Ptl. Anthony Congemi or Lt. 2C:35-7   Distribution of CDS Within 1000 feet of a School – Third Degree
2C:35-10.5(3) Distribution of Prescription Pills – Fourth Degree
2C:35:-10.5(4)b Possession or Use of Prescription Pills- Disorderly Persons Offense
