Three Arrested After Knife Attack

Yesterday at approximately 3:35 p.m. police were dispatched to Kossuth Street for a report of several subjects outside fighting.  During the altercation Gardell Hunt, 58 of Riverside, produced a knife and began to stab a 58 year old male.

The victim's son tackled Mr. Hunt to the ground.  After the attack ended Mr. Hunt briefly left the scene and gave the knife to Edwin Fugett, 57 of Riverside, who hid it.  The knife was recovered by police and three arrests were made.

Gardell Hunt was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons.  Hunt was remanded to Burlington County Jail on $100,000 bail.  Edwin Fugett was charged with Tampering with Evidence and Obstructing the Administration of Law.  Fugett was released on his own recognizance.  The victim's son was taken into custody on a minor warrant.

The victim sustained a minor laceration to shoulder after the knife penetrated a jacket and two layers of clothing.  The victim was seen by Delran Emergency Squad but refused further treatment.
