Riverside Students Create Video to Promote Teen Safe Driving

Riverside High School applied and was selected, as one of 59 schools in the State, to be a part of the "U Got Brains?  Champion School Program." This program, sponsored by the Brain Injury Alliance of NJ, challenges students to work with faculty and advisers to develop an innovative campaign to address teen driving safety based on a topic they choose.  The students receive a stipend from the New Jersey Division of Traffic Highway Safety to help them work on the idea.  The winning campaign is awarded an electronic driving safety simulator for their school to incorporate into the driver's education program.

Our students, many of which are Riverside Police Explorers,  developed a campaign called #BeAcoPilot.  Their goal is to spread the word that passenger safety is just as important as driver safety. By being a good passenger and assisting the driver, you create a safer driving atmosphere.   Our students are doing an outstanding job and have promoted their campaign through brochures, social media, and our Township electronic sign.  They have also just released their first of four public service announcement videos. we hope you will watch and share!

We ask that you support our students by sharing their PSA video and posting your photos of passenger safety on Twitter using hashtag #BeAcoPilot.
