Teens Charged with Weapons Offenses after Public Altercation

Riverside – Yesterday afternoon, at approximately 2:19 pm, the Riverside Township Police were dispatched for the report of juveniles being disorderly near Spring Garden Park.  Callers stated they observed groups of juveniles yelling at each other and that the groups were about to fight.  Officers made contact with the juveniles and they were given curbside warnings and advised to disperse. Approximately one hour later, Riverside Patrol officers were called out, again, for another report of the same juveniles engaged in disorderly behavior near Spring Garden Park.  As a result of that investigation, two male juveniles, both 16 years of age, were taken into custody and found to be in possession of an imitation, Glock-style handgun and a set of knives.  One of the suspects is from Trenton, NJ and the other from Woodbury, NJ. 

 

Juvenile #1 was charged with:

Unlawful Possession of a Handgun (3rd)

Possession of an Imitation Firearm (4th)

Disorderly Conduct (PDP)

 

Juvenile #2 was charged with:

Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose (3rd)

Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (4th)

Disorderly Conduct (PDP)

 

Both juveniles were processed and released to their parent/guardian pending juvenile court appearances.
