Township Committee Recognizes Riverside Police Explorers’ Commitment to Public Service
The Riverside Township Committee proudly honored Riverside Police Explorers Post 70 on Monday evening during the Township
Meeting, recognizing their outstanding service, dedication, and commitment to
the community. Established in 2007 by Patrolman Anthony Congemi, the Police
Explorer Program has grown into a remarkable initiative that inspires local
youth to pursue careers in public safety. Today, the program includes 32 active
Explorers and is guided by Ptl. Brendon Griffin and Ptl. Anthony Congemi, with
the continued support of other Riverside Police Officers. Many former Explorers
have gone on to achieve successful careers in law enforcement, including
several who now proudly serve within the Riverside Township Police Department.
The Riverside Police Explorers Post, affiliated with the Boy
Scouts of America, provides young men and women between the ages of 15 and 21
with a unique opportunity to learn about law enforcement through hands-on
experience and mentorship from members of the Riverside Police Department.
Under the supervision and guidance of sworn officers, the Explorers engage in a
variety of activities, including training sessions, community service events,
and ride-alongs with patrol officers.
Although the Explorers do not have law enforcement
authority, their commitment to supporting community-related functions has made
them an invaluable part of the department’s outreach efforts.
The Riverside Police Explorers Program is open to motivated
youths who are interested in learning more about law enforcement and public
service. Those wishing to apply or learn more can visit the application link
