Community Tip Leads to Vehicle-Burglary Arrests
Riverside, NJ
Early Thursday morning at approximately 2:28 am, patrol officers with the Riverside Police responded for the report of suspicious activity involving parked vehicles in the area of Whittaker St. The officers responded and located two male suspects walking along the sidewalk who fit the description provided by the caller. The officers made contact with two 13 year old male suspects. They conducted an investigation, and as a result, discovered that both suspects had illegally entered several vehicles and were in possession of numerous stolen items. One of the juveniles also had a knife in his possession. The two suspects were taken into custody and transported to the police department. At the conclusion of the investigation the juvenile's charges included:
- Burglary (3rd degree)
- Theft (Disorderly Persons)
- Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose (4th)
- Curfew Violations (Out past 10 pm Sunday through Thursday)
The suspects were turned over to their parent/guardian pending court.
The officers of Riverside Township are committed to keeping our township residents safe and protecting their property.
